How OwnerClone and IndyEater use text messaging — what we send, how you agree to receive it, and how to stop.

OwnerClone Inc · Each product texts from its own number: a restaurant's guests and staff hear from that restaurant's number, owners from the OwnerClone number, myClone users from the myClone number, and IndyEater diners from the IndyEater number. Until a given number is live, those texts come from (770) 525-1952.

Why we text

Texting is how a restaurant reaches you when it matters and you are not looking at an app — a code to prove you own your listing, a table that just came free, a shift that moved. We keep it to that, and you can stop it at any time by replying STOP.

Program description

OwnerClone provides restaurant management software, and IndyEater is our restaurant directory and ordering marketplace. We send text messages in three situations: to verify that someone owns a restaurant listing, to deliver operational notifications to restaurant owners and their staff, and — only where the recipient has expressly asked for it — to send offers on behalf of a restaurant a guest has visited.

We do not send text messages about loans, credit, debt collection, cryptocurrency, prescriptions, gambling, or any other restricted category. We do not send messages on behalf of third parties, and we never sell or rent phone numbers.

How you opt in

Every place we ask for consent is listed below, with the exact wording shown or spoken at the time. Checkboxes are never pre-ticked, and consent is never required to use anything — claiming a listing, placing an order, accepting a staff invitation and creating an account all work without it.

An unchecked checkbox on the invitation acceptance screen, beside the mobile number, where the employee sets their password. Accepting the invitation works without it.

Guests
What they see or hear
Can I send you a text so you can follow along on the screen and put in your address and payment information? Message and data rates may apply, and you can reply STOP anytime.
Asked aloud by the automated phone assistant the first time a number calls. Only a spoken yes is recorded, with the time, the call and the caller's own words; a caller who says no is told they can use the website instead. Later calls from a number that said yes get the link without being asked again.
This one is spoken, not shown. There is no page to visit — the words below are what the phone assistant says aloud on the call. The wording above is therefore reproduced here in full, rendered from the same source the live screen uses.

Guests
What they see or hear

Read aloud by the host when someone joins the waitlist, with the same words shown on the host’s screen. The host taps yes or no; only a yes is recorded, with the time and the waitlist entry. Joining the waitlist works either way, and a guest who says no is called by name instead.
This one is asked out loud at the host stand of the restaurant, by the person holding the waitlist screen. There is no page to visit — the words below are what the host reads aloud. The wording above is therefore reproduced here in full, rendered from the same source the live screen uses.

Message frequency

Message frequency varies and depends on your account activity — for example, how many orders you place, how many shifts you are scheduled for, or how often a restaurant you follow runs an offer. Most people receive fewer than five messages a month.

Cost

OwnerClone does not charge you for text messages. Message and data rates may apply from your mobile carrier.

How to stop

Reply STOP to any message at any time and we will stop texting that number immediately. Reply HELP for help, or email [email protected].

Opting out of texts does not close your account or stop email. If you reply STOP and later want messages again, reply START or tick the box again anywhere it appears.
